George Newhouse from Centennial Lawyers was at various times:
- a Councillor and Mayor of Waverley,
- a member of the NSW Architects Registration Board,
- an Executive Member of the Local Government Association of NSW,
- a member of the Land and Environment Court of NSW Users Group; and
- the Founding Editor of the Local Government and Shires Association’s Land and Environment Court Reporter;
- an in house legal counsel for a property developer and builder
He has 25 years’ experience in Conveyancing, Building and Construction and Land and Environment Law, in private practice and as a local councillor - including a year as Mayor and two years as Deputy Mayor of Waverley Council. He has worked in house for a major property developer and builder. After leaving council he worked as a legal consultant on establishing a retail and developer voluntary planning agreement strategy for the Jebel Ali Downtown Precinct in Dubai.
George was a member of the Consumer Trader and Tenancy Tribunal (a predecessor of NCAT) between 1999 and 2007. He also has extensive experience in Banking and Finance law having worked for JP Morgan in Australia and in New York and in the Capital Markets Division of Clifford Chance lawyers in London.
